Want to go for a walk?

No two people have the same definition of rescue, but in the end it all comes down to one thing and that is saving lives.

New to Rescue?

Everyone has to start somewhere, so why not start here? Thankfully, today rescue is becoming a more popular option among families looking to add a furry family member. Welcoming in a new pup can be an overwhelming task and when you are welcoming in someone you barely know it can be down right nerve racking. We will do our best to ease your mind while introducing you to the wonderful world of rescue.

All of our pups reside in foster homes, there is no shelter. This is a huge benefit to potential adopters as they can get an idea of the pup's personality and it gives the pup a head start in training and socialization. Our foster families have their pups anywhere from 2-6 weeks. Unlike taking a dog right out of the shelter, you will be able to see how they interact with other dogs, kids, and cats, as well as how they adapt to life as a pet.

Still not convinced that rescue is for you? We urge many of our first time rescuers to apply for a puppy 8 weeks - 6 months of age. When you get a puppy this new it doesn't matter where he or she came from, they are all about love. Puppies are blank slates ready to absorb whatever training and socialization you bring their way. Remember, with any dog regardless of their age, stimulation, structure, and consistency are key. Instead of trying to make up for their past, be the leader of their future!

WE ARE RESCUE PUPS
Please read the following, so you know what to expect from your rescue pup!

Please keep in mind that we do our very best to ensure that the dog you get is well tempered and healthy. You are adopting a rescue, which means you need to be willing to take on the responsibility of any vetting that will be needed after the adoption.

  • Remember your dog/puppy has been sitting in the shelter. This means sitting in their own pee & poop, drinking out of dirty water bowls, sleeping on cement floors, and being exposed to numerous illnesses, Do not be surprised if your dog/puppy goes home with parasites. They have been living in these conditions for most likely months, and the place they were living before this probably was not any better.
  • Most of these dogs/puppies are coming from the south. Being transported up north can be a big climate change. This can bring on kennel cough. Many times we try to catch this and medicate the dog/puppy before they go home. However it can sometimes take up to a week to break depending on the dog/puppy's immune system.
You just brought home your new dog/puppy. This may not be the first time you added a furry member to your family, but this the first time your furry friend is part of a family!

The dog/puppy that you just adopted was sitting in a rural shelter not too long ago. It was fed when the shelter staff felt like feeding him/her, the water was rarely ever clean, and walks were a luxury that most did not get to enjoy.
  • That being said your new dog/puppy will be looking to you for guidance. More often they are not your new family member and will not have any manners what so ever.
  • They will think that they need to indulge in a 30lb bag of dog food because they do not know that they can now count on daily meals.
  • House training even in dogs may seem like a huge obstacle, but please remember these dog/pups have mainly lived outside, or in the shelter. They will need structure and patience.
Prior to adoption your pup will be spayed/neutered, vaccinated, heartworm tested (if applicable), they will be given a dose of flea/tick/heartworm preventative, dewormed, and given any additional medical care that may occur. We do our best but cannot guarantee the health of any dog/puppy.
For adoption inquiries please contact our adoption coordinator at jonesm4318@gmail.com.
All of our pups do reside in foster homes throughout the Hudson Valley.
An approved application is required prior to a meet and greet.
